Beklemming, benauwdheid en onvrijheid zijn thema’s in het werk van Ingrid Slaa. In deze onrustige tijd wordt steeds afwijzender op non-conformisme gereageerd. Dat kan verstikkende en angstige gevoelens oproepen. Ingrid zoekt naar (h)erkenning daarvan. Haar werk maakt ze van afdrukken van haar lichaam(sdelen). Die vermenigvuldigt, vervormt en  combineert ze tot beelden en installaties. Meestal niet glad afgewerkt, als symbool voor de rauwheid van de gevoelens.

Oppression, claustrophobia, and a lack of freedom are themes in Ingrid Slaa's work. In these turbulent times, there is an increasing rejection of non-conformity. This can evoke suffocating and anxious feelings. Ingrid searches for recognition of this. Her work is made from imprints of her body (parts). She multiplies, distorts, and combines these into images and installations. Usually not smoothly finished, as a symbol of the rawness of these feelings.

“Het achter de ellebogen hebben” heeft een negatieve klank. Maar de elleboog blijkt een zachte en toch ook krachtige vorm te zijn. Misschien een aansporing om verder te gaan. Wat laat jij achter?
