Ik teken veel, maak nu ook kleine schilderportretten. Ik werk met foto’s. Eigenlijk elk materiaal wel. En als ik de kans krijg verbind ik alles in een installatie die terplekke groeit.
In mijn werk zit speelsheid, zachte humor en het heeft een licht filosofische inslag. Deels is het werk dat op zichzelf staat. En deels is het werk dat juist in samenhang met mijn andere werk, of de plek waar het ontstaat, pas echt tot zijn recht komt.
Naast mijn kunstenaarschap heb ik ook als beeldend therapeut in de psychiatrie gewerkt. Omdat beiden mij past ontstaat er een overlap. In mijn eigen beeldend werk is er vaak een link door aandacht voor kwetsbaarheid en de waarde daarvan.

I draw a lot, and now I also make small painted portraits. I work with photos. Actually, I use any material. And when I get the chance, I connect everything into an installation that grows on the spot.
My work has a playfulness, a gentle humor, and a slightly philosophical slant. Some of it stands alone. And some of it truly shines in conjunction with my other work, or the place where it originates.
Besides my artistry, I also worked as a visual therapist in psychiatry. Because both suit me, there's an overlap. In my own visual work, there's often a connection through a focus on vulnerability and its value.

“De Ander”
Beschrijving:
Het Gelaat van de medemens is een sleutelbegrip in het werk van de filosoof Levinas.
De Ander doet een appèl op ons om zelf na te denken en een standpunt in te nemen t.a.v. die Ander, los van algemeen gedeelde visies en dogma’s. Voor mij is het een oproep om De Ander tegemoet te treden met een open blik, op zoek naar waardevrij contact, ook als er eerst vooral verschillen te verwachten zijn.
Zo’n houding kan denk ik een weg zijn waarin de huidige maatschappij zich weer positief kan ontwikkelen.
In de portrettenreeks “De Ander” speel ik (sinds 2021) met het Gelaat van de medemens als onderwerp. Dit om te zien wat er ontstaat in mijn werk en wat de portretten met mij (willen) doen.

“The Other”
Description:
The Face of our fellow human beings is a key concept in the work of the philosopher Levinas.
The Other calls on us to reflect for ourselves and take a stand on that Other, independent of commonly held views and dogmas. For me, it is a call to approach the Other with an open mind, seeking non-judgmental contact, even if differences are initially expected.
I believe such an attitude can be a path toward positive redevelopment for today's society.
In the portrait series “The Other,” I have been playing (since 2021) with the Face of our fellow human beings as a subject. This is to see what emerges in my work and what the portraits (want to) do for me.
