In 1985 is Marja afgestudeerd aan de Amsterdamse Academie voor Beeldende Vorming met Keramiek en Beeldhouwen op 1e graad niveau. Sindsdien exposeert zij in galeries, musea en beeldentuinen. Ook doet zij mee met thema- tentoonstellingen en werkt ze in opdracht.
Marja werkt met aardewerkklei, steengoed en porselein. Zij giet zelf haar kleine bronzen beelden en beeldhouwt in verschillende steensoorten. Tevens is ze 30 jaar docent Keramiek en Beeldhouwen geweest in Almere. Bij het CKV en later in de Kunstlinie.
Incidenteel verzorgt zij workshops: brons gieten en raku stoken. Daarnaast organiseert zij exposities en Community Art Projecten.
Marja is lid van Kunstenaars Flevoland, Kunstenaarsvereniging Laren-Blaricum, KunstKwartier Almere en Kunst Collectief Muiden & Muiderberg.
About Marja Thijssen
In 1985, Marja graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in Ceramics and Sculpture at the 1st degree level. Since then, she has exhibited in galleries, museums, and sculpture gardens. She also participates in themed exhibitions and works on commission.
Marja works with earthenware clay, stoneware, and porcelain. She casts her own small bronze sculptures and sculpts in various types of stone. She also taught Ceramics and Sculpture in Almere for 30 years, at the CKV (Cultural Art and Design Academy) and later at the Kunstlinie (Arts Line).
She occasionally teaches workshops in bronze casting and raku firing. She also organizes exhibitions and community art projects.
Marja is a member of Artists Flevoland, Artists Association Laren-Blaricum, KunstKwartier Almere and Art Collective Muiden & Muiderberg.
