Herre Methorst (70), geboren in Zeist, begon zijn carrière als grafisch ontwerper en artdirector bij een reclamebureau. Al 35 jaar werkt hij als zelfstandig kunstenaar. Dankzij het werk van zijn vrouw Dicky woonde hij sinds 1988 in diverse landen, waaronder Botswana, Zambia, Servië en Israël. In 1989 exposeerde hij in de National Gallery van Gaborone, Botswana, en ontving daar de Art Prize. Altijd had hij zijn schetsblok en potlood bij de hand om vast te leggen wat hij zag, totdat hij in 2009 overstapte op de digitale pen.

StreetViewArt en Internationale Erkenning

Sinds Methorst de digitale pen hanteert, reist hij via Google Street View de hele wereld over, wat hem grenzeloze mogelijkheden biedt om de wereld te verbeelden als een groot kunstproject. Zijn vernieuwende werk werd in 2011 beloond met de Talent Award tijdens Kunstmoment Gouda. Daarnaast exposeerde hij zijn StreetViewArt-werken in Venetië tijdens de Biënnale van 2013.

Andere Projecten en Prijzen

Naast StreetViewArt heeft Herre Methorst andere projecten gerealiseerd, zoals Black Skin, Identity, Devotion en Adorned. In deze werken komt zijn passie voor modeltekenen naar voren. In 2017 won hij opnieuw de Talent Award, ditmaal op de Annual Dutch Art Fair in het World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam. Hij nam in 2017 en 2019 deel aan de Internationale Exlibris- en klein grafiek tentoonstelling in de Stedelijke Musea van Sint-Niklaas.

About Herre Methorst

Herre Methorst (70), born in Zeist, began his career as a graphic designer and art director at an advertising agency. He has worked as an independent artist for 35 years. Thanks to the work of his wife, Dicky, he has lived in various countries since 1988, including Botswana, Zambia, Serbia, and Israel. In 1989, he exhibited at the National Gallery of Gaborone, Botswana, and received the Art Prize. He always had his sketchpad and pencil at hand to capture what he saw, until he switched to digital pen in 2009.

StreetViewArt and International Recognition

Since Methorst started using digital pen, he has traveled the world using Google Street View, offering him limitless opportunities to portray the world as a large-scale art project. His innovative work was recognized with the Talent Award during Kunstmoment Gouda in 2011. He also exhibited his StreetViewArt works in Venice during the 2013 Biennale.

Other Projects and Awards

Besides StreetViewArt, Herre Methorst has created other projects, such as Black Skin, Identity, Devotion, and Adorned. These works reflect his passion for life drawing. In 2017, he won the Talent Award again, this time at the Annual Dutch Art Fair at the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam. He participated in the International Exlibris and Small Graphics Exhibition at the Municipal Museums of Sint-Niklaas in 2017 and 2019.
