Folkje maakt tekeningen met houtskool, krijt en inkt, van heel groot tot erg klein. Zij werkt intuïtief en improviserend, waarbij natuur, archeologie en mythologie haar inspiratie zijn.

In haar atelier is zij spelenderwijs bezig met het materiaal tot het idee zich vormt.

Verder maakt zij op dezelfde manier objecten van gemengde materialen: klei, touw, leer etcetera, en op straat en in de natuur gevonden spullen. 

Trefwoorden: magisch, surrealistisch, mysterieus.

Waarom Folkje meedoet aan de textielkunst expositie Vezelkracht? De titel zette haar aan het denken…

Voor de objecten die Folkje maakt, gebruikt zij veel verschillende materialen, maar sommige gebruikt ze vaak: takken, oud karton, klei en in de natuur en op straat gevonden voorwerpen en materialen. Om de objecten een extra lading te geven en aan elkaar te verbinden, combineert Folkje ze vaak met draad, touw, kledingresten, jute, ongesponnen wol en -vlas. Vezels!

Zij is dus géén textielkunstenaar in de zuivere zin des woords, maar vezels vormen een belangrijk beeldelement in haar objecten en dat wilde ze graag laten zien in deze expositie.

About Folkje Nawijn

Folkje creates drawings with charcoal, chalk, and ink, ranging from very large to very small. She works intuitively and improvisationally, drawing inspiration from nature, archaeology, and mythology.

In her studio, she playfully interacts with the materials until the idea takes shape.

She also creates objects in the same way from mixed materials: clay, rope, leather, etc., and objects found on the street and in nature.

Why is Folkje participating in the textile art exhibition 'Vezelkracht'? The title got her thinking…

For the objects Folkje creates, she uses many different materials, but she uses some frequently: branches, old cardboard, clay, and objects and materials found in nature and on the street. To give the objects an extra charge and to connect them, Folkje often combines them with thread, rope, clothing scraps, jute, unspun wool, and flax. Fibers!

She is therefore not a textile artist in the pure sense of the word, but fibers form an important visual element in her objects, and she wanted to show that in this exhibition.
